trench coat and sweater dress

trench: michael kors, sweater dress: j crew, scarf: j crew,
leggings: white house black market, boots; frye,

It's been way too long since I updated this blog- my sincere apoplogies. My daughter finally finished her mid-terms and I am crossing my fingers for the best.
It's been raining here in the Bay Area (finally!) and to my surprise, we got a peek of the sun today.
I love sweater dresses and this particular dress is a drop-waist with a dark panel on the sides to create a slimmer look.  I paired with a bright colored scarf to give a more vibrant appearance (Audrey's recommendation)
I can't tell you how comfortable my boots are, I was able to walk to my son's school and back with such comfort.  Love it!  Have a great weekend!

Chanel bag and J Crew cherie jacket

j crew cherie jacket, bag: chanel(vintage), shirt: j crew, pants: anthropologie, booties: j crew
accessories: j crew, banana republic, claire,  watch: rolex

Hello everyone, so sorry for not updating for long.  My daughter is very busy preparing for midterms next week and trying to keep up with her AP classes.  She comes home so late that I am taking the pictures in my home once again.
So here is the story.  I was looking in my closet and realized I haven't carried my vintage?(old, from mid 90s) chanel bag and believe it or not, back in the days, I used to hate any logos on my body so I used to hate this huge logo on the bag.  I hated the logo so much, I used to carry it the other way to hide it and worse yet, took off the cute little tassel on the zipper.  I am so glad I didn't throw that part away and kept it in the bag.  I still remember like it happened yesterday, contemplating whether I should throw it away.  So crazy, right?  I took it in to get it refurbished and shined and paid $50.  I thought it was way too hefty of a price for reattaching and shinning it but I like the fininshed look and its a chanel bag, right?   By the way, I love Chanel now :)
I had a Chanel look in mind when I put this ensemble together to compliment my vintage(?) bag.   Of course, I lust after a Chanel jacket but it's way out of my budget and its staying in my wish-list.  This j crew cherie jacket is not how I thought when I first got it- I thought it would be a lot more sturdy and a tad bit shorter and my reaction wasn't too good when I put it on for the first time.  Maybe it was because I had a sweats on and was getting ready to sleep.  Strangely enough, my daughter loves it!  She said I look super-fab, which is rare from her.

bubble skirt and booties

jacket: banana republic, shirt: banana republic, skirt: j crew,  sunglasses: tom ford, booties: j crew, tights: h&m, accessories: loehmann's, j crew, claire

It is another beautiful day in the bay area so I wanted to play around with the idea of putting together the usual stuffy button down shirt with a playful skirt.  I paired with a bubble skirt but a pencil or sequined skirt would be great as well.  I love peplum jackets in general; It's very feminine and goes great with just about anything.
FYI, banana republic had an extra 50% off on sale items and j crew had an extra 40% off on sale items yesterday and I had a blast shopping/talking with my great friend.  The time went by way too fast....This shirt that I have on is still at the store and I paid only $17!  It is pretty fit and I love the little puff on the sleeves which add subtle details.

military jacket and booties

sweater jacket: J Crew, top: J Crew, jeans: vigoss,  booties: J Crew, earrings: Banana Republic

It was a beautiful sunny day and I wanted make an outfit around sequined shirt to reflect my happy mood.
This loud shirt is subdued with a military sweater.  I know I tend to wear a lot of J Crew but you could get this look with any brand.  Just remember to balance your look so you don't look too harsh nor too girly.  Fyi, I got these booties for under $45 from ebay and I truly love them.

poncho and riding boot

poncho: J Crew, Shirt: J Crew, Pants: J Crew, Boots: Aigle, Scarf: Anthropologie, Sunglasses: Jimmy Choo, Earrings: J Crew, Bag: Chanel

I hope you enjoy my casual day attire #1.
The idea behind this outfit is being comfortably warm and yet also looking like you gave effort.
When you wear something large on top, you have to balance it out with a tighter and clean lined bottom, while the riding boots are comfortable and polish the look.
I got almost everything dirt cheap on sale and from ebay(can't pay retail price).
